I know that you guys know me well enough to know that I can’t go anywhere without sampling a few local bakeries. If it were up to me I’d just eat cupcakes and pasties for breakfast, lunch, and dinner… but alas, there is a food pyramid and the obesity epidemic shames me into not.

I’m pretty sure sugar to me is like how crack is to addicts. I’m just saying, some days I just can’t focus on anything else without shoving a cupcake in my mouth first.

Okay, so in another life I weighed 300 lbs. Let’s move on.

I found Coccadotts purely by accident. It was on the side of a pretty busy part of Albany and adjacent to a tire shop.

Sometimes I get desperate you guys.

Needless to say, I was pretty wary of trying it out. It is really unassuming on the outside and boasts a lot of their accomplishments that I was sadly unaware of such as being on GMA and Food Channel’s Cupcake Wars. So as soon as I stepped in I was surrounded by pink and all things sugar.

It. Was. Awesome.

They had about two dozen different flavor cupcakes alone and even at 7pm (they closed at 8pm) they were pretty well stocked so I didn’t just get the days leftovers.

I left with three for me and three for SOoBA. First up, I tried the OMG cupcake. Now I read a few things about this cupcake before, but was very very unaware of what I was biting into. It was chocolate batter with chocolate icing dipped in peanut butter hardshell, but at the bottom was peanut butter, cookie dough, and an Oreo to top if off. Now I really really love sugar, but it was even too much for me.

SOoBA had a cookie dough cupcake and refused to share but did let me know it was delicious. You’ll just have to take his word for it.

The next day I had the s’mores cupcake and SOoBA had the root beer float, both were equally as delicious. We rounded off the cupcake trios with peanut butter cup (are we sensing a pattern?) and watermelon. I have to say, my only qualm was that the watermelon tasted a bit… off? Definitely wasn’t my style but I wouldn’t not go back just because of it.

YOU GUYS.

My experience with Albany was surely a wave of experiences, some great, some horrible. This one was definitely a great one. Bombers Burrito Bar in Albany (and Schenectady), NY was one of the most delicious places I have ever eaten.

Of the week that we were in Albany, I ate Bombers at least four separate times. Every time it did not disappoint, even reheated it was delicious the next day. I couldn’t get enough.

Now a little about the food.

I had the Jamaican Jerk Pork Sandwich with Rasta Fries. It sandwich was a bit spicy in all the best ways, the pork was tender and the fries had just enough seasoning. You guys, seriously, delicious.

I hugely recommend Bombers if you are in the area. I think this will be a meal I always come back and crave again and again.

On Monday, SOoBA came home and informed me that I need to pack and be ready to head up to Albany to leave early as heck in the morning on Wednesday. You know, because we all love doing everything at the last minute.

On a what seemed like a million hour drive to Albany we decided to take a side trip to view the falls. I was the only person in our caravan that has seen the falls before but I have only seen them from Canada and not from the American side. Evidently, that also made me the resident historian and travel guide for this little side trip. Want to know what I vividly remember about Niagara Falls?

The falls have moved back a substantial distance from where they were originally were because the water erodes the rock beneath it. There is a plaque that says so in Canada.
The falls on the American side are called the Bridal Veils Falls.
At least one person a year tries to throw themselves over the falls in a barrel.
There is a really fun M&M’s Store on the Canadian side of the falls.

And that’s it.

So I improvised, what are you going to do about it?

After checking out the falls I found a cute little cafe in the area called Caffe Lola.

We ordered our food and was going to grab it to eat outside but noticed we were running out of time (we had a strict schedule to follow) so we ate on the road. You guys, it. was. delicious. SOoBA and I actually both liked the Chipotle Turkey more than the Bruschetta Chicken though. I hear the fries are great at this place and I’m sure we would have tried that if we were minus a puppy and had more time. If you are in the area it is definitely a must try.

Next we are going to look at some more food and a hotel review!

Okay, okay, so to where? The end of this month we are heading up to Albany, New York City, and Saratoga Spring, New York. I haven’t gotten too far into planning but from what I gather there is The Egg, Secret Speakeasies, and Mineral Springs to look forward to. Exciting, no? I know you guys can’t help but be way excited.

So be a little patient with me until then. It’s just a bit hectic trying to get everything ready for all the crazy traveling. It’ll get good, I promise!

I know I’ve been MIA for a while on the writing aspect of this here little Tumblr. To be honest, I’ve had a million ideas and just haven’t had a way to really gather my thoughts. We’ve been trying to figure out the next few months and the best way to handle life moving forward. I gotta say, it has been quite an adjustment but I can’t be more proud in SOoBA and how he has learned to communicate and be receptive of how I’m feeling.

(Enter golf clap)

That being said, let’s discuss Memorial Day. You know, that holiday of remembering the solider’s who have fought and are fighting for our freedoms. Cookouts and friends and generally a lot of tom foolery.

Except for us.

What did we do? We fixed a broken water heater for the whole weekend. Three. Whole. Days.

For serious.

I can now say that I can successfully take apart a water heater and put it back together. Except we still don’t really know what was wrong with it or how it was fixed, but it was fixed and we have hot water. Don’t ask how we did it, but we did. One thing after another broke and after multiple trips to Lowe’s we fixed our first real problem in this house together.

While I’m way bummed that there was no pool time or BBQ’s, it was still nice to get the time together and find out that we problem solve pretty darned well. We only had to take one cold shower in the process, well SOoBA did. I will never take hot water for granted again.
